BLUEBEARD’S CASTLE

BLUEBEARD (2022) – costume design.

Bluebeard is a lonely man. He lives in his castle, where he dwells on his life and remembers the women he loved who are no longer there.
He is romantic and somewhat unaware of his malice.
He only obtained his power through his wrongdoings, for his cape is made from the dresses of the women he once collected.
During the performance, he reaches into his cape, from where he removes the dresses he collected from his previous wives. These dresses will weigh Bluebeard down as he holds on to the idea of possession and ownership over them. When finding each dress, he becomes temporarily more confident, as he remembers the happiness he once felt.
They are the colour in his life.
